In 2023, Slough Borough Council identified workplace health as one of the key objectives under Work and Health priority area of its Health and Wellbeing Strategy, recognising the critical role that ‘good work’ plays in improving population health and reducing inequalities. Evidence shows that a healthy workforce leads to increased productivity, lower sickness absence, and broader economic and social benefits (PHE, 2019).

To progress this strategic aim, the Council commissioned the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) to support the development of a borough-wide workplace health strategy in collaboration with local stakeholders.

Commissioning and Objectives

Why RSPH?

We needed a partner with the capability to facilitate the development of the borough’s workplace health strategy with organisations across multiple sectors in Slough. RSPH’s experience in strategic public health planning and stakeholder engagement made them a natural fit.
