Understanding the role nutrition plays on human health is essential knowledge for improving health outcomes. Our accredited Level 4 qualification will provide you with knowledge and understanding of how to apply healthy eating guidelines and/or information provided by nutrition professionals to the development of recipes and menus, in order to provide healthy balanced options to meet the needs of individuals or groups.

What is Level 4 Nutrition?
The RSPH Level 4 Award in Nutrition for Health builds off the foundations established in preceding awards regarding the importance and principles of a well-balanced diet, current public health guidance on healthy eating and the relationship between diet and health.
This accredited qualification covers the key role of nutrition in health and wellbeing. Its objective is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet, the effect of diet on health and the importance of hydration.
This qualification is on The Education and Skills Funding Agency list of qualifications approved for funding. This qualification is regulated by Ofqual/CCEA and Qualification Wales.
Who is this qualification for?
Level 4 Nutrition for Health is suitable for people working in the catering, fitness, hospitality, leisure or care sectors and others who are in a position to promote healthy eating. It is also relevant to health and teaching professionals who might have a role in the promotion of healthy eating or the preparation of meals, menus and diets.
Key skills
By completing this qualification, you will come away with a practical, actionable understanding of the importance and principles of nutrition, including:
- Understanding the sources, functions and uses of macro and micro nutrients
- Understanding the energy, nutrient and hydration requirements of individuals throughout life
- Understanding the effects of diet on health
- Understanding legislation as it relates to labelling and advertising of foods

How long does it take to complete?
The qualification takes a total of 65 hours to complete, including 35 hours of guided learning time, with assignments marked by the centre.
