Understanding the role nutrition plays on human health is essential knowledge for improving health outcomes. Our accredited Level 3 qualification will provide you with knowledge and understanding of how to apply healthy eating guidelines and/or information provided by nutrition professionals to the development of recipes and menus, in order to provide healthy balanced options to meet the needs of individuals or groups.

What is Level 3 Nutrition for Health?
The RSPH Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Health builds off the foundations established in the Level 1 & 2 Awards relating to the importance and principles of a well-balanced diet, current public health guidance on healthy eating and the relationship between diet and health.
This accredited qualification covers the key role of nutrition in health and wellbeing. Its objective is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of a healthy balanced diet and how this can be applied to adjust diets/menus to align them with healthy eating guidelines, as well as how to deliver healthy eating messages, either through changes to food choices/diets/menus or broader health campaigns.
This qualification is on The Education and Skills Funding Agency list of qualifications approved for funding. This qualification is regulated by Ofqual and CCEA.
Who is this qualification for?
Level 3 Nutrition for Health is suitable for people working in the catering, hospitality, leisure or care sectors and others who are in a position to promote healthy eating. It is also relevant to health and teaching professionals who might have a role in the promotion of healthy eating or the preparation of meals, menus and diets.
Key skills
By completing this qualification, you will come away with a practical, actionable understanding of the importance and principles of nutrition, including:
- Understanding how to plan and promote healthier food
- Understanding the internal and external factors that drive food
- Understanding how to identify improvements within a specific diet or menu
- Understanding how to address specific health conditions by changing a diet or menu

How long does it take to complete?
The qualification takes a total of 30 hours to complete, including 23 hours of guided learning time, followed by a 120-minute multiple-choice examination.
