RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Surveying

What is asbestos surveying?

The Control of Asbestos Regulations impose duties on every person who has, by virtue of a contract or tenancy, an obligation in relation to the maintenance or repair of non-domestic premises to manage the risk from asbestos. There is therefore a need for surveyors and similar specialists to have the knowledge to inspect buildings and premises for asbestos and to advise on how to manage any asbestos found.

This industry-recognised qualification will provide you with the skills, knowledge and competencies you need to work as an Asbestos Surveyor. This qualification is regulated by Ofqual/CCEA and Qualification Wales.

Currently working or looking to work as an Asbestos Surveyor? This industry-recognised qualification will give you the opportunity to develop and demonstrate your competency to perform the role.

• Asbestos types, uses, health effects and legislation 

• Asbestos surveying and management of asbestos in   buildings 

• Bulk sampling of asbestos 

• Use of decontamination units and Class H vacuum cleaners during asbestos surveys

How long does it take to complete? 

The qualification takes a total of 40 hours to complete, including 22 hours of guided learning time, of written examinations, portfolio of evidence. 

Career progression 

Learners who achieve this qualification can progress to the RSPH Level 4 Certificate in Asbestos Laboratory and Project Management.
