What is asbestos bulk analysis? 

Asbestos bulk analysis is a process used by laboratory analysts to identify the presence and type of asbestos fibres in sample materials, using a variety of techniques. The Control of Asbestos Regulations impose duties on every organisation who analyses samples for the identification of asbestos to be accredited by UKAS for this activity. 

This regulated Level 3 qualification will help you to develop the skills and knowledge required to carry out the role of a laboratory analyst, identifying asbestos from within samples collected out on site, in accordance with the procedures described in HSG248. 

This qualification is regulated by Ofqual/CCEA and Qualification Wales. 

This qualification is on The Education and Skills Funding Agency list of qualifications approved for funding. 

Who is this qualification for? 

This qualification will provide laboratory analysts with the knowledge and understanding to be able to carry out this role in the workplace. Possession of this qualification by staff will help organisations and companies meet the accreditation criteria for ISO17025 (testing bodies).

How long does it take to complete? 

The qualification takes a total of 81 hours to complete, including 23 hours of guided learning time, of written examinations, portfolio of evidence.
