Discover RSPH's growing range of educational pathways and begin your public health career journey.

RSPH's new education pathways provide equitable, accessible and diverse routes into public health careers, supporting excellence at every level and upskilling the workforce to support the delivery of preventative public health services.
These pathways support graduates and workers looking to start a career in public health, professionals looking for recognition, career change or progression opportunities, and employers looking for a way of recognising the contribution of the workforce.
What public health pathways are there?
Modular Pathway
This pathway is designed to help you to gradually accumulate a body of qualifications and training that can support:
- Entry into careers within the wider public health workforce and the core public health workforce
- Progression within your respective field or sector
- Recognition of your skills, impact and contribution to public health
The modular pathway, offered at level 2 and 3, spans the full scope of RSPH education and training with complete flexibility. Points are assigned against all qualifications, training or accredited programmes and you will be able to self-select modules to complete over 12 or 18 months. The only required module is the Level 2 Award in Public Health.

This baseline qualification is worth 20 points, and you can then self-select the other education modules to reach the 60-point threshold.
You can select any of the modules available through the Education Hub, but learners completing the Level 3 Public Health Member Pathway must choose at least one module at Level 3.

While all our pathways vary according to the needs of their sectors and learners, they typically consist of a series of regulated qualifications between Level 1 and Level 5.
The point at which you enter a pathway is based on both the requirements of the sector, as well as your current skills and experience. A pathway could be accessed by someone looking for employment within the sector, or by an experienced practitioner looking to develop their skills and progress to the next stage of their career.
